Different bathtubs and showers are made from different materials. Fiberglass is a common material that is frequently used for standard bathtubs, garden tubs or jetted bathtubs. It is also often used for Shower walls and ADA Compliant roll-in showers. And sometimes people will have tile shower walls but the shower pans are fiberglass.
Fiberglass is susceptible to being chipped or cracked. But we can fix it, often leaving it better than new. Our goal is to make the surface look like there had never been any damage there in the first place.
Most repairs are followed up with a full refinish job in order to make the project look its absolute best. Depending on the situation, some spots can just be repaired, and touched up in order to avoid resurfacing, but it depends on the situation. At Paint South Florida we will always give you our best diagnosis of the problem and let you know our honest opinion on the best way to proceed.
Sometimes fiberglass tubs or shower pans crack over time because they were weren’t supported well when the builder first installed them. In this case we do something called a Bottom Rebuild in order to not just fix the problem that is visible- the symptom. We fix the problem itself.
We have done commercial repairs where we have fixed stress fractures of shower pans and repaired and resurfaced them in order to relieve the pressure of when the pans expanded with the heat. We have repaired diverter holes from ADA compliant showers that were cut into the wrong side by the builder’s team. We can drain water from under a tub that has been leaking and collecting water and repair it so that it’s fully functional again.
While we are not plumbers and don’t touch plumbing we fix many non-plumbing bathroom issues. Call us and see how we can add value for you.
